New golf cart available to enhance accessibility to Castel Gandolfo

The Vatican Museums' Polo Museale in Castel Gandolfo is enhancing accessibility with a new service starting September 1st. Visitors can now take advantage of an electric shuttle that accommodates wheelchairs, ensuring a comfortable experience for those with disabilities or limited mobility.

This eco-friendly, modern golf cart seats six to eight passengers, is road-approved, and specifically adapted for individuals with mobility challenges. Offered at no cost and inclusive of one companion, this service is a joint initiative by the Directorate of the Pontifical Villas and the Directorate of Museums and Cultural Heritage. It exemplifies a commitment to accessible and sustainable solutions, aligning with the “Ecological Conversion 2030” initiative introduced by the Vatican Governorate last November. The program aims for carbon neutrality and a fully emission-free vehicle fleet by 2030.

A designated Vatican staff driver will operate the shuttle, providing visitors with historical and botanical information about the Garden of the Moor and the Secret Garden during the ride.
